Competitive Wages

At ABC Stores we strongly believe in rewarding hard work, productivity, and efficiency with excellent wages. At ABC Stores, associates are rewarded for the longevity of their employment with automatic wage increases based on the accumulation of hours they work. In addition, an associate's good to excellent performance is rewarded with wage increases, bonuses, and promotions. It is our fundamental belief that paying good wages is part of a complete compensation package.

Performance Bonuses

The Company believes that all assocites share in the responsibility to achieve sales and profits and should share in the rewards. Store operations are evaluated twice a year following inventory. At this time, management associates are eligible for a Management bonus and non –management and associates are eligible for a performance bonus. These bonuses are based on associate's performance and Company and store results measured by net profit, total sales, and overall profitability. So, with the Profit Sharing bonus, the typical ABC associate receives a bonus three times a year. Our founder Sidney Kosasa always said, "We make it, we share it!"

Profit Sharing Plan with 401K

Not only does the Company care for our associates' present well-being by providing competitive wages and benefits, we also offer the finest profit sharing and 401(k) plan that allows our associates the means for a very comfortable retirement. There are three parts to this plan:

  1. The company supplemental profit sharing contribution: each year, the Company contributes a portion of its profits to the Profit Sharing Plan
  2. The employee pre-tax contribution. Associates may contribute up to 100% of their salary to the plan subject to caps set by the IRS.
  3. The company matching contribution: the company will match a portion of your contributions.

It should be noted that since the company added the 401(k) feature to the profit sharing plan in 1988, the company supplemental contributions have been larger than all of the employee contributions each year!
